Can we lose weight easily?


Let's say you've decided to save money out of your pay after your basic bills have been paid in a savings account. Your money is sent directly from your pay to a savings account but you can't get it out. Your savings account begins to grow. Then, you need cash but you can't get it. So, you take on a part time job, part of which is sucked into your savings account. You think, I'm screwed. Yet I have a ton of money sitting there I can't get to it. Your savings account represents your fat cells. Your income from all your jobs represents the food you eat. The desperation you feel at not being able to get to your money when you need it represents your hunger.

One of insulin's primary jobs is to store fat and keep fat that is already stored in the fat cells. The fat goes in and has trouble coming out when insulin is too high. Your body has the ability to sense the nutrient levels in your blood, a signal goes out to bump it up. If things are functioning normally, insulin falls, glucagon goes up a bit, and the fat cells release fat, which the cells burn. If insulin is too high, then fat stays trapped in the fat cells. The body says you're low in fuel. You are driven to eat. When you do eat, part of what you eat goes to fuel your body and part is driven into the fat cells just like the money from your job. You are driven to eat to keep your fuel levels up, at the same time having fuel than you need locked in your fat cells, hunger drives you to keep eating. And your fat mass gets bigger.

If you cut calories and eat high-carb calories, then you continue to stimulate the release of insulin. If you reduce your carbs, insulin falls, and your fat cells give up their contents. The fat coming from the fat cells tells your signalling system that you have plenty of fuel available, so you're not plagued with hunger.
